Alec Drachman is the harp player, bassist, and vocalist of GRBC. Alec grew up in a musical family playing classical music until the rock and blues bug bit him in his early teens. After getting a Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee record for Christmas at age thirteen, he began devoting himself more to blues harp and guitar. He played guitar and harp in various rock bands in high school, and while attending Michigan State University, hooked up with a rock/blues band called "Sam-I-Am" which evolved into GRBC. Alec spends much of his spare time in the wide world of harmonicas: customizing them, giving lessons, and attending conventions. His main influences are Sonny Terry, Little Walter, Kim Wilson, Carlos Del Junco, Gary Primich, Rod Piazza, and Magic Dick. Alec plays Hohner Special 20 harmonicas, which he customizes himself, and plays Hohner 270 and 280 chromatic harmonicas. His favorite harp mic is a Shure 545s and he now uses a Holland "Westside 35" amp which he won at the 2000 "Global Harmonica Summit" in Minneapolis.
